2013 was a year where you could come anywhere close to saying I had a style.
It was likely also the last year I drew mostly for myself, out of enjoyment.
Year: 2013
Software: Paint Tool SAI
Looking back at them, I think they all look pretty funny. These were of people's in-game characters on MapleStory:
Anything after 2013, as I believe many others have experienced, there's background noise.
And it's not a noise you can ignore.
It's to draw things for the sake of being accepted into an algorithm.
Social media really diverted motivation around drawing.
A standard reaction is to either admit defeat and declare yourself an invalid contender,
never to be considered good enough - so you don't do anything at all.
Or you keep grinding, being discouraged that you don't have X likes or Y followers, like so many others may have.
But I suppose we've always been this way, and it's not tied around social media necessarily.
It is likely just age.
This one is in top 3 for drawings I have done:
No explanation.
The rest are random girls and such.
This style still does influence most of my drawings.
It is inspired by the movie Tekkon Kinkreet and Soul Eater (Covers of volume 16, 17 and 18, specifically).
This one is from 2018. The beginnings of Bearhatboy, I suppose.
From 2021:
Wait a minute,
That's not a bear hat, that's a cat hat.
How did I come to forget this?
